AMT receives ICT Excellence Award
Dateline: 3 April 2003
At this year’s annual ICT Excellence Awards, AMT received the prestigious “Best Example of Mobile Internet Technology” Award in recognition of the progress and successes the company has achieved in the technology and aviation industry worldwide. The winners of the 2003 ICT Excellence Awards, which are sponsored by Esat BT, were announced yesterday evening at a ceremony at Jury's Hotel, Dublin. The annual ICT Excellence Awards - part of ICT Expo, taking place at the RDS this week - pay tribute to the high achievers in today's increasingly competitive and fast growing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.
Companies submitted their entries for one or more categories, which were then judged by an independent panel of well known industry experts. The criteria used to pick companies for the differing categories were as follows: companies that over the last 12 months were seen to offer innovative, value-adding products/services, pushing forward and developing a specific industry sector (Telecoms, Internet, Networking / Systems Integration and e-business).
According to judges AMT provided a “REAL example of a working mobile Internet technology”. AMT's solution - Flightman™ - offers secure wireless management of aircraft technical and operations data using XML technology and portable computing devices and can achieve substantial cost savings and improved operational efficiencies for airlines resulting in savings that average US$100,000 per aircraft annually. Flightman™ is the complete solution for electronic data capture and management in the field of flight operations and maintenance, covering business processes, technical documentation, fuel and vendor management, onboard sales and flight plates.
On receiving the award COO and co-founder, Steve Hardgrave, commented that “This award recognises the technical developments that AMT has made in the last year and the fact that our product can make a real difference to the costs involved in airline operations. I believe with an offering like Flightman™ AMT can look forward to even greater success in 2003”.
