easyJet selects AMT's Flightman
Dateline: 2 February 2005
easyJet and Rockwell Collins have signed an agreement to develop a fleet-wide electronic flight bag (EFB) and supporting software solution for easyJet’s fleet of 54 Boeing 737 aircraft, using Rockwell Collins eFlightTM information management program. The EFB solution, part of easyJet's Aircraft Information Exchange (eAIE) program, is designed to increase the airline’s operational efficiency.
“This agreement will provide easyJet with the right tools to more effectively manage day-to-day operations,” said Mark Harris, vice president, Global Aviation Information Management for Rockwell Collins. “By integrating aircraft operations with the back office requirements, we can help easyJet save time and money.”
“This solution will support easyJet’s strategic objectives to enable sustainable growth, operational efficiency and lower costs,” said Ray Webster, CEO easyJet. “The solution also moves easyJet towards a paperless cockpit and facilitates the efficient and accurate transfer of data between aircraft and airline.”
Initially Rockwell Collins will supply Civil Aviation Authority Class 2 EFB functionality for easyJet’s fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft as well as a ground-based server and integration. The solution will utilize Aircraft Management Technologies’ (AMT) Flightman™ development platform and software tools. Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2005.
AMT CEO Bernard Hensey says “Our Flightman™ software provides a standards-based platform to enable accurate data transfer between aircraft and airline. This allows Rockwell Collins to rapidly configure a solution to match easyJet’s objectives.”
