Dateline: 24 November 2003
Comptel Corporation, the global market leader in convergent mediation and provisioning software solutions, has delivered Comptel OnlineLink mediation solutions for non-voice services to Vodafone Malta. The solution has enabled Vodafone Malta to launch non-voice based prepaid services for its mobile subscribers, and was delivered by Comptel in co-operation with its Ireland-based associate company Tango Telecom. The value of the delivery has not been published.Comptel OnlineLink solution provides an advanced content-based and real-time rating and charging solution for non-voice services for both prepaid and post-paid subscribers. It also eliminates fraud typically associated in prepaid services by checking and reserving the charges from the subscribers prepaid account. For post-paid subscribers, Comptels solution generates the necessary rated IPDRs (Internet Protocol Detail Record) and takes care of further delivery to the post-paid billing system and other client systems like data-warehouses. The solution implements the most sophisticated and user friendly GPRS and SMS rating schemes, providing a powerful tool to boost the take-up of these services, and can also be utilised for MMS services.
Vodafone Malta chose Comptels solution after rigorous technical evaluation. The company has also shown their ability to deliver in timely fashion a complete end-to-end solution for charging and rating of non-voice services. The flexibility of the solution enables Vodafone Malta to differentiate in the market and gain competitive advantage in providing new services considerably faster, said Mr Joe Muscat, CTO of Vodafone Malta.
We are very pleased that Vodafone Malta selected Comptels market leading solution for convergent charging and rating of non-voice services. This agreement further expands Comptels co-operation with Vodafone Group operators. The introduction of new prepaid based mobile services has become a key issue for numerous mobile operators when creating new businesses opportunities. Comptel OnlineLink integrates with the network with minimal disruption and provides a cost-effective and evolutionary way to broaden the service portfolio for prepaid subscribers, said Katri Sahlman, Senior Vice President, Product Business, Comptel Corporation.
